Redmond, Washington Community Information
Situated at the north end of Lake Sammamish, Redmond is located to the east of Seattle in King County, Washington. Known as the corporate headquarters to Microsoft and Nintendo, Redmond is also recognized as the bicycle capital of the Northwest. With the Sammamish River running through its center, Redmond is a suburban city with a historic downtown with many locally owned businesses connected to a more modern downtown. The area’s population of 46,000 plus includes a number of highly paid technical workers, giving the city a ranking of 20th out of 522 in per capita income in Washington communities.
Renton
With a growing population near 58,000, the City of Renton is located along the southern shore of Lake Washington in King County, immediately south of Seattle. Situated in the cross-sections of I-5, I-405 and Hwy. 167, Renton is centrally located and, therefore, a popular spot for retail stores including Fry’s Electronics and the first North American location of IKEA. Renton offers magnificent views of Mt. Rainier, the Cascades and the Olympic Mountains. The Cedar River runs through the heart of downtown.
